i think it’s frustrating that voters aren’t very rational actors. but the Democrats’ strategy can’t be pounding the table and demanding more rationality. that’s just not how politics work

The dems have spent my entire political life demonstrating to me that they are extremely susceptible to hostage taking tactics what am I supposed to do, cave?

But it works if you assume perfectly rational voters in a frictionless, spherical democracy

I’ve never heard a republican say they’re staying home on Election Day because their candidate doesn’t tick every single box on their list. They vote for bible thumpers or rapists without thinking twice.

Genuinely, a huge motivator for a lot of GOP voters is the contempt they perceive Dems as having for them. Openly displaying that contempt is definitely not going to help win more people over.

IDK that it’s fair to dismiss people who, for example, refuse to vote for any genocide supporter as 「 irrational 」 simple because you don’t understand their values or logic tbh

The people in power created a political system that behaves irrationally when it suits the interests of the powerful. Both "Conservatism" & liberalism contain significant bullshit & disinformation at this point.

the neoliberals think you're talking about them, but they're throwing tantrums about graphs and then calling anyone who even mentions hillary a republican.

I think it's very rational to look at biden and go "this guy isn't winning". the neolibs shitting their pants because you point it out because they all live in a fantasy land where they just go to brunch with chillary because everything is fine for them? The Most Rational, surely

It feels like some Democrats would rather lose, but feel themselves morally correct, rather than give any sort of ground to the other liberals they detest (but whose votes they also need to win). I’d actually very much like for Biden to *win* the election.
