I'm older Gen X and missed out on all that prosperity. I do remember finally getting my degree and trying to find a 'real' job during the early 90s recession. I think my immediate cohort forgets how bad it was then, they shouldn't, might help with some empathy.

For sure, but for a lot of that cohort, housing was at least somewhat accessible and anyone who bought a home in the 90s or early 00s potentially saw massive returns both before and after the 08 crisis provided they didn't refi at the peak in 07/08 and end up underwater.
