Sorry for the vague term. I just mean anything that makes it the end user. Using a class feature as an example: The finished product will probably be written in prose, but draft versions be necessary math plus a brief 1 sentence summary. Less painful when you inevitably refactor! :) 1/2
If I recall, DND 4e was explicitly designed with a vtt in mind. I don't believe it was ever finished for the game's release, which was part of why it had so much trouble taking its place.
Absolutely. Design documents are of some help here. Likewise, a workflow for scaffolding your intended features before you invest actual prose to writing them does wonders for making refactoring feel less like cutting teeth. In that way, good RPG work is a lot like good code, IMO
Read a lot! In my experience, your ability to create is in large part a function of how much you're aware of. Also, math is your friend!
