Fun fact about the botting guy, he didn't even last 5 minutes in my chat cause he was such a tool. Asked him not to spam caps in every message and I got "that's what I do, don't change me" So he's a botter, an idiot, and he threatens people in their own stream
Another person came to my chat and while he was acting all nice and looking like he was enjoying my content, he was really messaging my viewers and wanting them to go to his stream instead He got caught when I checked a vod of his, at the moment he's still not Twitch Affiliate at 170+ followers
I've witnessed two people destroy their credibility - One person follow 4 followed their way to 300 followers, then willingly let themselves get botted for an extra 700 follows, he now rarely streams cause people caught him AND the whole botting conversation happened while he was live
I wanna warn about one thing to the newer streamers: Desperation Simply put, being desperate makes you do stupid things. I've witnessed people destroy their channels and credibility just for the sake of a few follows and views Twitch is tough, but it's tougher with a terrible reputation
I'll impart one key bit of advice for my newer streamers, don't just use Twitch to grow on Twitch, it's just too difficult now. Use BlueSky, use TikTok, use Youtube Shorts, use Instagram Reels. Just get Twitch clip content on other platforms that could benefit from the algorithm trust me
I think a lot of it has come down to the fact that 90% of my growth comes from off stream stuff now (like posting clips, following folks here, Twitter engagement etc.) that I can afford more freedom with content Growing in directories is a tougher ask, so off stream work is so key now
Twitch wise it's been so nice doing the content I WANT to do as opposed to the content I feel the NEED to do. Like I'd get caught up in the "I need to do x cause it's popular" and genuinely, it sucked Now I'm just streaming whatever and it's great, no worrying about stats and just vibing
