Saying that DEI is “getting” more divisive is pretty egregious use of passive voice, weaseling out of saying who is responsible for the division (hint: it’s the people who have explicitly said their aim is to lie about what DEI is and turn everyone against it)
If you, as a white individual, oppose diversity – the inclusion of people from various social, ethnic, gender, and sexual orientation backgrounds – you are unequivocally a white supremacist bigot. By definition. It’s really that simple.
Exactly the strategy they used to delay climate action for years - make it “controversial”, scaring some weaselly executives away while giving all cover to be as regressive as they please.
There are no rational reasons why DEI should exist. If we became a great country through meritocracy, the only thing DEI can do is trash it.
Completely agree that the headline writer is cowardly avoiding assigning blame here! But very minor quibble, that's not a passive construction (which requires a participial form of 'get' and is often identifiable by the ability to append the prepositional phrase 'by X').
"Divisive" = "pointing out divisions that we want to continue to quietly benefit from".
It's so wild to me that VC bros are loud & proud about being unwilling to work with or sell to the majority of the world's economy. Stunningly short sighted.
I fucking hate this shit and how every single publication falls for it over and over and over
Bullies and bigots getting a huge assist from our media buying what they're selling. And this kind of passive-voice framing may seem like a small thing to many, but in aggregate it seeps into the info ecosystem and reveals a clear POV.
Blaming the framework that promotes "the fair treatment and full participation of all people" is a calculated way of destroying it so Corporations can get back to cronyism, nepotism, favoritism, racism, and misogyny. We're going backwards, undoing decades of civil & women's rights, everyone's rights
Several of my Missouri lawmakers have pushed anti DEI rhetoric. I took a little tour through their social media imagery. All of their colleagues are white. All of their friends are white. They meet with all white groups. Interesting that.
