Those criticizing those celebrating implicitly assume that war has anything to do with morality. No fucking shit civilian deaths are tragic. But it is so goddamn tone-deaf to chastise peoples traumatized by generations of systemic violence for taking joy in seeing their oppressor get hit back.

Americans confuse power and morality due to decades of indoctrination about our country's history, which required distinguishing the "just" wars from the obviously incredibly unjust atrocities that were done, in order to save face for the empire as a whole.
