They've become my go-to for "people I can actually respectfully disagree with". It's good to be able to listen to reasoned, sane counterpoints to your own opinions, and finding that has been tough.

A prope centrist party could serve as a stepping stone for people from one side to start crossing to the other. As we become more polarised, conversion becomes less likely without a place where people can move in a direction without feeling they must remake themselves entirely to belong.

The unfathomable sadness when you're so proud of remembering to bring your headphones when you left the house, but not really

That's not the case, you're exaggerating my arguments, but whatever. You win. I probably shouldn't have been quite so snarky in the first place. I still think the actual OP's salient point was unfair, but it is not worth this discussion.

So yes, that bottomless pool of vitriol has made it harder to try to enjoy this game while I'm bored at work looking at things. Funny that you don't say anything to people who feel the need to dump on something they're not even playing, I guess that's just perfectly normal behavior we should reward?

My account is a few weeks old. I am sorry I have not amassed a variety of posts large enough to be allowed to have an opinion. I term searched a game to try to see things about it and the feed is swamped with people patting themselves on the back for shitting on it. It evokes a response.

People just can't seem to evaluate things on their own terms anymore. I remember reading an essay from Roger Ebert where he explained he rated movies based on what they wanted to be, not what he thought they should want to be. That principle would make the Internet so much calmer

I'm almost tempted to go to the letter app to say that Jerry's take is probably the most rational piece of the "discourse" I have seen. Almost.
