It ends when a right wing dictator gets installed and consolidates a nondemocratic form of government. That will be the end, for all of us, of the dilemma that few presidential administrations do everything we wish they would do on really important subjects.
I get your frustration, really, but understand that while you're trying to defend liberal electoral politics, what you're describing is just that the American republic is in a death spiral that liberal electoral politics cannot break and the only choice is fascism now or later.

As long as the Dem nominee is a doddering mummy whose approval rating is underwater even in California, I will not accept that Democrats actually believe this, even if I do think they are sleepwalking into a catastrophe.
