To be fair, Musk didn't buy twitter to advance right wing politics, he bought twitter because he thought "420.69 dur dur dur" and signed a horribly tight binding contract because he's actually Not That Bright, and if he didn't the judge would have seized his Tesla stock and sold it to pay anyway.

The purchase of twitter is one of the most significant personal expenditures in history, and its evident purpose was to turn the site into a friendlier nest for anti-trans voices, antisemites, white supremacists, and out-and-out nazis and a more hostile place for progressives and liberals.

It's amazing to me how quickly he transitioned from "free speech absolutist" who was letting more conservative opinions on the site to just straight up openly supporting Trump. I always thought he sympathized with cons, but I thought he'd at least try to maintain the appearance of a neutral arbiter.

His politics are just so hard to pin down! /s
