Laurent de Brunhoff, the French artist who nurtured his father’s creation, a beloved elephant named Babar, for nearly seven decades — sending the character, among other places, into a haunted castle, to New York City and into outer space — died on Friday. He was 98.
After his father, who created the character, died, he continued the series of books about a modest elephant and his escapades in Paris for seven decades.
Babar adored by me, my children and my grandchildren. A sad loss but a most excellent legacy

The same week as M Emmett Walsh?
Oh i loved Barbar as a child. May he be forever remembered!
Our family always cherished Babar. We're a mixed-race US family & care not at all about whatever political aspects. Products of their time.
