What an excellent initiative! Do you know if there’s anything similar for earlier periods? Why focus on literary/cultural data (just surveying the repository landscape, curious abt origins). Will share around here too!

We are starting with the fields for which we are able to reliably provide expert peer review. We are inspired by data.post45.org and the work of Cultural Analytics in general. Humanities scholars have tended to need to ease into spreadsheets, so we're providing outreach/ed in the data essay portion.
