Basically, a hacker could've remotely crashed a Switch running Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It could've been worse if it was paired with a (theoretical) second bug.

They previously separated matchmaking between players below 2000.0 Power and above that. They are now adding additional separation for leaderboard position (below position 2000 and above) only in Takaroka.

Nintendo says that matchmaking times may become longer at certain times of the day. In addition, since top players will only be able to match with each other, it will be harder for them to win, and therefore reaching abnormally high X Powers will become more difficult.
