I think about this a lot with hockey here. It's so expensive now to get a kid into hockey that there's *no* way we're *not* pricing out kids that have the potential to be extremely good players. It really applies to almost every discipline and field you could think of. Capitalism sucks.

It's happened to baseball and golf. For baseball it's especially sad since it's the pro sport that pays the best, the longest, even for non-star players. Soccer and basketball attract the most athletes, worldwide, because of how inexpensive it is.
