A handsome orange man!

Since whatever disappeared their mother is still at large, I’ll be keeping half as pets and my mum will be adopting the other half. We have to wait to see if they’re drakes or hens before we split them!

One of them nested here but unfortunately disappeared from her nest about two weeks before they were due to hatch. So I incubated the eggs myself, and I’m now the surrogate mother of 7 ducklings.

A primer on the ducks for 🦋 - they’re Muscovies, the only kind of duck not in the Mallard family, and they’re 5 weeks old today. I live on a river and the local Muscovies visit my garden often - I feed them, and they were hatched and raised by humans so they’re quite tame.
