As a teacher I couldn’t accept anything over $50.

We did this all the time at my (public) former school. If a teacher determined that a student would benefit from extra time, the teacher was empowered to grant extra time. Seemed to work well! Students just needed to understand that this would not happen on standardized tests without documentation.

I agree, although I think we’ve become somewhat used to seeing bombs dropped on schools and hospitals and after that somehow this doesn’t seem as bad. In my view it’s not good to give terrorists new ideas. They have more ideas than we’d prefer already.
