I believe bandlab is still free, though I think they have announced they will ultimately go over to a subscription model. You can probably pick up old Pro Tools, Ableton or Sonar fairly cheaply, but you do need the hardware interface also.
We do that, too. One mystery I have not been able to solve: in the morning I find that her blanket has crept over to my side while the top sheet has fled over to hers. I think Sherlock himself would have trouble with this one.
When was the last time any public project came in "on budget", I wonder? Just in the sense that altering fiscal rules based on the projected IRR on government investment is almost certain to result in eventual failure to comply with said fiscal rules.
