The original promise, was of an RPG, certainly not a dystopian version of a GTA with less choice and less "Immersion sim" than any Deus Ex. And yet, that's what they tried to sell people on for... A considerable amount of time. I could make the argument that the famous demo was proof of this.

So, while they may have delivered a game that's worth it on its own terms, which, again, ready to accept that. It's not, will never be (has never been?) the game that was sold to me and others. No ill will to the developers, it's marketing/publishing fooling people. But that's still the reality.
