I'd recommend reading the manga first, the anime doesn't give as good of an impression of the story as the manga does. After school is a lot better animated than season one, but it really only makes sense if you're already familiar with the characters.

Loved TMA, mixed feelings on TMP. I'm liking the monster stories, but the heavier focus on the human cast this time right off the bat is kind of a miss with me. TMA front loaded the horror and eased you in to slowly starting to care about the human workers, TMP has too much office chatter.
