I like the Compulsive Gamblers album when it sounds like a standard lo-fi indie rock album with some 60s spice, less so when it's trying to sound like a 60s garage rock band in a much more literal way than your Strokes and your Hives and whatnot.

The thing about 60s garage rock is whatever charge it had was because it was only like 20% less accomplished than most contemporaneous pop-rock. It still kinda sounded like "Red Rubber Ball" and "I'm a Believer",
