Wanna help me do science? Let’s talk Diagnostic Overshadowing. Have you ever had physical symptoms that were dismissed, downplayed, or misdiagnosed because of a pre-existing mental health condition? If so (or you’re a carer of someone who has) please complete my 15-30min survey.
Does "because the gastroenterologist DECIDED it was a mental health condition because I was wearing a high-quality mask and he's a virulent anti-masker, and spent the entire appointment scolding me for being a hypochondriac and just imagining my reflux symptoms, and oh, this was during flu season?"
Hey, I really like that you're doing this. Can I offer a suggestion? When a binary trans person (someone who identifies as a woman or a man) sees the options for gender being "man," "woman," and "transgender," it causes confusion. A lot of us don't principally identify as transgender!
And also, if you just want to chat about it, or vent your frustrations about your experiences, I’m here to chat! Let’s get this topic out there, so people have the words to identify the problem, express themselves, and advocate for themselves and their loved ones.
