We tested sequences from four clinical isolates for the presence of non-canonical rearrangements While the were much lower number of rearrangements, they much more highly enriched for homology and reverse complement sequences

Closer look at these rearrangements have identified shared sequence properties that were enriched at the junction site, these included short homology sequences and reverse complement sequences (allowing formation of secondary structures like stems)
