!!! Ok, there's an author, @maryrobinette.bsky.social, w/ a cat, Elsie, & a dog, Guppy, that she communicates with using buttons. Apparently, she has been able to prevent Elsie from freaking out so much at the vet bc she could use the buttons to tell her what was happening! Here's an example:

Me chasing my dog around the house and backyard with a little bottle of ear cleaner so he wouldn't get mites (again). He's gone now, but man did he hate ear maintenance day!
One huge pet wish would be that they could speak when they felt ill or in pain. That they could tell me where it hurts and when it started.
Yet another place where the experience of parenting a small kid has extreme crossover with taking care of animals.
