One of my first horror games was the original (yes I am ancient). It is *not* easy being a fan of Alone In The Dark. It *is* way better than the movie, though. ...Actually that seems like a bold statement.
It *is* hilariously bad in retrospect. At the time it was i n f u r i a t i n g .
The Alone In The Dark (2008) reference was a jumpscare.
My daily reminder that Ed Greenwood's first contribution to my life as a TTRPG fan might have been starting the Forgotten Realms, but the second has been a LIFETIME OF SKEEVING ME OUT.
=walks into a wall= Oof. Sorry.
I do not like these frigging things. Because my Magus couldn't hurt it with magic, she ended up baseball-bat-swinging her staff at it and line-driving the sumbitch into the hereafter.
And yes, I'm aware that "It's another D&D" might be doing a new game developed by a group that pretty much exclusively ran 5e a disservice, but... =shrug=
I almost exclusively play with the same very small subset of people, & they like PF2e, so it's not been a problem. 20+ years ago when I wasn't Older Than I Look & running a business, I had time & energy to spare. Now it takes work to convince me to learn a new game. "It's another D&D" won't do it.
Ey, if you've got the drive and the time, go for it.
