Is there a scholarly collective in the UK that lobies for changing university governance rationales from financial good to social good? I would like to join one or create one. It is about time we end over financialisation of science and education in the UK.

Treating unis like centres of commerce has been a disastrous policy choice for UK HE. We need a social model in university education. Using financial rationales over social needs for keeping or letting go of fields of study is barbaric and anti-social. Students are right on multiple fronts.

When presented with evidence, some people still refer to their beliefs that contradict the evidence. Unless they have a methodological or philosophical objection to how evidence is garnered, personal beliefs and feelings are important to note but insufficient for making evidence led decisions.
