So now the internet traps something in a perfect bubble you can't really riff on or criticize. People ignore the flaws and seams and put it on a pedestal. A lot of adults running nerd sites in the mid 00s did this. kids... grew up in this environment of religious adoration of The Shining, SH2 etc

They don't explore beyond it. The movies are clearly actually good but because they've been taught, "this is the best something will ever be," there's no incentive to look for interesting other ideas, or what influenced the faves. The community enforces this, pop culture writing enforces this, etc
