The UK has fought Uber on workers rights and made sure their drivers get classified as employees, not self-employed contractors, which maybe explains why we buck the trend? I don’t know enough about it tbh
There is room for a new model to surplant the theft Uber & Lyft are based on. Who's going to build a ride-exchange platform that allows for local competition between drivers for riders, while leaving room for independent cooperative/app development? Like ad-exchanges, but for gig-service.
