I once heard an author say that libraries were "government-sponsored piracy, if you really think about it" which convinced me to pay zero attention to that author going forward. Thank you for supporting libraries.
In the UK authors receive a payment every time their book is borrowed from a public library. Is there a similar scheme in the US?
Library book loan payment scheme updated to benefit authors enabling authors to earn up to £6,600 from loans of their books from libraries.
What was the author's name? I just wanna talk to them for a minute, I swear.

That’s an amusingly difficult phrase to google, because, you know, privateers were a thing.
I know several not-authors that believe this, as well. Yet, anecdotal evidence from several patrons suggests they’ll spend more money on authors they’ve tried from a library and liked. And several buy the books they’ve already read. This was well before the plague years, but I bet it’s still true.
I had an author say something similar to me once. And it was at a library event (book reading) I never read another of their books either. Turned me right off. They told me borrowing books was stealing money from their mouth.
"... if you really think about it, but on the other hand are neither smart nor well-informed."
Shit take, that.
(arguing with the wrong part) if they're sponsored by a state they are privateers. Not pirates
BRB using Book Pirate as my title from now on
