The simplest and most useful thing would be the possibility to cancel the subscription directly from the credit card with one click. Why they don't do it is a mystery but it surely has to do with interests..
When I worked customer service at Bank of America, the most annoying permanent subscription was 24-Hour Fitness.
It'll also reveal that their business model includes profiting off of making life difficult for customers. I mean, it's low-key extortion, isn't it? "Unless you jump through these exact hoops in exactly the right way, we're going to continue taking your money."
Verizon is my front-runner. Gannett newspapers is the dark horse.
