Frederick Douglass was fearless in facing those mobs. Less charming, Pendleton is home to a huge state prison. I grew up a few miles away from Pendleton and used to ride my bike past the prison razor wire on my way to Falls Park. I recall the stone sign but unsure if the tree was there in 1970s.

South side sign was missing when I passed at 1pm today.

Your video is amazing to see. In Indianapolis, summer hummingbird behavior is what @divinelogic.bsky.social describes - very territorial, not willing to share a feeder, hardly willing to share the same yard. Our last stragglers left about a week ago and now come winter birds like juncos.

It’s so nice to finally see work beginning on the eastward extension of the B&O Trail from Hendricks County into Marion County. Just 3 miles of trail to go and I’ll finally be able to ride the trail into Speedway to grab a beer at Daredevil Brewing. www.botrail.org/images/maps/...

Photo shows grading and packed gravel at Hendricks County B&O Trail’s new extension that heads east from the current trailhead at Raceway Rd. By end of 2025 this extension will connect to Speedway’s Trail - just 3 miles to the east.

I cycle past the incident location six times a week, so today I stopped to snap a photo. The location is next to the entrance of Indy’s Eagle Creek Park, which attracts cyclists and pedestrians from all over. Everyone, but especially a child, should ALWAYS be able to safely #bike in this area.

I’m trying to remain patient and optimistic while work creeps along with the Eagle Creek Trail Phase 2A in Indianapolis. Even when this phase is finally finished, another phase of work (2B) remains before those of us living near the Eagle Creek Park can safely #bike to downtown Indy.
