Is an app for garbage feed of pointless arguments.. is it any wonder why the numbers are down ?

It will only accelerate. The people leaving are those most likely to be posting constructively - creating real content rather than just empty replies

And this doesn't correct for the influx of both accounts. So my educated guess is that percentage wise the amount of active real users has declined much more.
