All MPs have to raise funds for their election campaigns. How else could they pay for them? People have forlornly suggested the campaigns should be tax-payer funded which is not a policy that would ever appear in any successful election manifesto!

Capitalism doesn't inconvenience easily. People trying to go about their lives, do, on the other hand!

Why not just not answer? Blocking seems a mildly aggressive thing to do. One thing we know about social media is that the form is not amenable to subtlety.

Thanks for that link to an interesting if complex article. I shall give it a read. My position is that so many trials have been undertaken but nobody has tried to implement it. Why? I was a member of the Basic Income Research Group in the 1980s - been thinking about this a long time.

I was surprised to be blocked for sounding vaguely sceptical about UBI. Just questioning whether it is ever affordable.
