Vote Rhodochrosite! Cutting edge research is showing that meat rock made animals! Manganese carbonate rocks are tied to climate extremes that shaped Ediacaran biota — the first animals. You owe your life to meat rock! It’s the final match. Vote rhodochrosite! (Next year: Whewellite & Calcite)

Every time. Shut it down for a month to fix it, “Oh wait, it’s messed up. We can’t run the trains full speed for the next two years.”

Glancing at the suggestions & some references, it seems that in discussions of research there is a particular story being told about ontology, relativism, etc. For what little it’s worth, you could tell the student that many (most?) professional philosophers would find that story confusing/confused.

I find this presentation a bit odd. Is this the typical way these concepts are discussed in medicine/science?

Vote calcite for its gargantuan role in art history: all of marble & limestone sculpture, chalk drawing, large amounts of painting as pigment & extender. Vote calcite for fossils! And trilobite eyes! Sure titanite gets points as an indicator mineral but birefringent calcite gets the physics vote!
