Kids today don't know that you used to have to download a tool to compress your files because the compression tool wasn't built into the OS and internet speeds were so shitty that you had to compress them to send them anywhere.

I think you're right, I just tried what you said and it's very good

interesting because my 2012 macbook compresses files but i need tools to unzip

these days we just bitcrush the shit that doesnt fit in discord's file size limit (but thats only for the POORS without nitro)

And somehow, no one ever paid for this tool and everybody was fine with that.

Just got a miserable flashback to when I had to download a utility to both zip a folder *and* chop the zip file up to put it on floppies.

Not only did I do that, but in the days when Internet access wasn't available off campus, I also used a program called AxMan to chop compressed files (which werr still too big) into 1.44Mb chunks so that I could take them home!

I did like the Winzip icon -- the file between a vice.
