A small Gen5 mail call today. Bio Freaks is a game I had no interest in… until watching @mattmcmuscles.bsky.social videos on YouTube, that is. I’m not missing too many more EA Sports games for the original PlayStation, and crossed two more off of the list.

Weekend mornings in October are my favorite.

It’s the Retro Game Collector app. www.puregaming.org/retro_game_c...

I’ve been collecting video games since 2012. Next year will be my 13th year. It’s been a fantastic ride. But old age, a new career/associated responsibilities, and a growing lack of free time are weighing a bit as I careen forward. I have a dream video game library, but little time to enjoy it.

When I look ahead to 2025, I’m thinking about it being a Nintendo handheld year. DS. GBA. Maybe even some original Game Boy and Game Boy Color. I initially thought about Dreamcast in this spot, but Dreamcast pricing is… well… Scrooge McDuck would wince.

2022 was a year that I focused mostly on building my original PlayStation library. 2023 was an original Xbox year. 2024 has been a Nintendo 64 year. Though I still have wishlist items for these, what’s left is either prohibitively expensive or straight up hard to find, so I’m happy with things.

It’s too bad that video game publishers really don’t at all care what players prefer, and will instead continue to force-feed them multiplayer offerings instead until players learn to accept it.

Mail call! The more notable games are a pair of racing games. I’ve never played Micro Machines V3, so I snagged it on a whim. San Francisco Rush 2049 completes my Rush 64 trilogy— even if the Dreamcast version is a bit better. Oh, and yes. That is another 🦭🦭sealed🦭🦭 game you see.

Here are the latest additions to my Gen5 game library. I don’t know why, but my interest in Army Men games has gone up recently. I suppose I should get the Gen6 ones. Oh, and the Snowboard Kids 2 find? Yeah, I was psyched to land that one.
