This is an open debate. Some folks feel like natural language processing makes hashtags unnecessary. For me it’s about the UX — on twitter I got used to ignoring hashtags because clicking on them was kind of useless
I’m easygoing on it, if BlueSky ends up with a comprehensive search engine, then hashtags do become largely meaningless. The only thing I can think of is that communities did often form around hashtag ‘chats’ but their could be new ideas for that of course
I also started ignoring hashtags, glad to know I’m not the only one!

I feel the opposite. While it can certainly be said clicking on a hashtag won’t give you 100% of the content you’re looking for- but it does make an easy portal for that content. I search for content using hashtags across social and it helps.
Will gif’s option be available on the app as well? Like twitter?
Will Bluesky receive a new icon update or the current icon the icon set for the app ? Like the official icon , I noticed a few people were asking about it.
