I'll just reiterate my mantra that nothing is written in stone, and that fancy technologies arent worth anything if they make for bad experiences for people. if the tech we've made isn't good enough, we'll work on it. it'll take time, but that's the job. so please keep the feedback coming. fin

Very interesting thread, thanks for the effort at communicating with us. I understood about 10% of it! As a pleb who just sees Bluesky as a social media platform, all I care about is moderation that makes it a safe space, my data not sold/traded, when I delete, it actually deletes, & an edit button
So, every time I try to follow certain posts, I get some kind of stack error. Know anything about that?
Appreciate you narrating this, and it’s logical, but there’s a key, common scenario that isn’t addressed here, which is blocking individual harassers. An abstraction won’t solve the issue of (e.g.) an individual angry ex, where there’s no community consensus on blocking the bad actor.
Why do we need public data repositories at all? Can’t we just push all the fetching to communication over xrpc?
Also, when I type really really really really really really really really reallly long long Blah Blah Blah Messages - this section I’m typing in will be covered by my keyboard and I have to pull the screen down to reveal what I’m typing. Would love if it tracked the type cursor automatically.
When I scroll all the way down to suggested follows in the search section, the navigation bar will cover a majority of the most bottom person on that list making it unable for me to follow them. Even when I peel it the screen up to reveal it, I cannot tap it with a second finger. Thx u btw🤗
the problem with bloom filters is they’re reversible if you brute force them, try all the sig hashes you know about and check, or make a second filter with hashes and check the intersect?
