I remember one of the early Doctor Who New Adventures, set in a gritty dystopian 21st century, in which all phone boxes had been refitted as public internet cubicles, complete with stainless steel keyboards and reinforced perspex screens.

Ready to go at Earlsdon Primary School in Coventry. #KidLit#KidLitUK

P.G. Bell sitting at a table piled high with copies of The Beanstalk Murder, in a primary school hall.
A wall display of P G. Bell's books, under the words "Spotlight On". The display is framed by red theatre style curtains and yellow cardboard spotlights.

My latest New Scientist cartoon. Based on a true story. Well, the first panel is true, anyway.

Panel one.
Caption: On the 28th of June 2009, Professor Stephen Hawking hosted a party for time-travellers, but he did not send out invites until the day after the party… no-one came.
(This is entirely true)

Panels 2-9.
Images of various aliens, robots and other beings, all holding invites. Below each is an excuse for not attending the party: Babysitter cancelled, Had to work late, Timeship being fixed, Didn’t feel great, Had to be up early, Wormhole closed, Diary mix-up, Dog ate invite.

The Beanstalk Murder tour enters its second week. Today, I'm off to Bath Children's Literature Festival. A first for me!
