Without trying to get too spoilery, this book has a banging opening chapter, but then chapter 2 in the transition from first to second paragraph is the highlight of the whole thing. And that isn’t even the bit with the creepy mantis angels.

With apologies to US readers, look at the magnificently creepy cover of the Aus/UK edition of Woodworm. Fits the creaking, crowded space of the novel, someone always watching (in the house, in the town…).
