I've been telling people this for years. We never abolished slavery. We just set terms and conditions on it. The text of the 13th amendment is not vague: ""Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime..."

It's literally slavery. The 13th amendment: "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

Shocking but not surprising. Slavery never really ended completely in the US -- it just kind morphed.
