A company owned by one of Detroit's most powerful families illegally built a concrete plant on the city's east side — and the city did not punish them The family has been slowly taking over the 99% Black neighborhood for the last several decades
It's the latest example of the city allowing special dispensations for heavy industry operations nestled in majority-Black neighborhoods.
Not sure the details here, but theft of Black-owned property in America (via exploding property tax on a people kept impoverished so they are unable to pay) is one of the most insidious modern-day examples of systemic racism.
The energy companies do the same thing here in Louisiana
Fucking laws how do they work?
I'm not surprised at all. Detroit has the most disorganized IDGAF building dept I've ever had to deal with.
An illegally built concrete plant you say? *Shines searchlight into the night sky, illuminating the silhouette of an armor plated bulldozer*
Goddamn
If there's shady shit going down in Detroit, it's always the Morouns.
Such a travesty
this would have never happened if they canceled the minimum wage!
Think MAYBE the company MAY offer jobs in a depressed neighbor?
