THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT - There's a myth that a PG-13 movie is allowed one use of the word "fuck," but this film is so wholesome that it gets away with three fucks.
A BITTERSWEET LIFE still holds the crown as my favorite Korean film. It somehow feels fresh after all this time.
Eagerly awaiting the end of my sinus infection where I blow my nose and it looks like a squib from HARD BOILED.
J&B Cinematic Universe: Lorraine drinks it in BACK TO THE FUTURE II, and it's featured in GOODFELLAS as well, not to mention pretty much every Italian crime film of the '70s.
Last 4 watched included EASY TO GET, an army training film warning troops not to get STDs from "dirty women." It was actually kind of entertaining and would have been a fucking riot if Phil Hartman read the exact same narration.
HORIZON Chapter 1 was not what I expected. It has absolutely no structure. Not even a third act or climax. Imagine if FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING featured only 3 major scenes with Frodo, with 45 to 60 minutes between each of them. (1/?)
It's hot, the kind of day where you end up kicking stray ice cubes under the fridge.
Western of the day - DEVIL'S DOORWAY is another superb Anthony Mann film. I think Mann may have done the first ever cool-hero-in-front-of-explosion shot in this film. Tons of well-shot action and some heartbreaking treatment of Indigenous people at the hands of the villains.
