Picked up Fahrenheit 451 thinking surely it couldn’t be as bad as I remembered - there was a Gaiman intro and everything! And it’s better as an adult! This was right as the library censorship was starting up again and long story short I’m working on my MS in library science rn because of that book

I never read it until we read it in a class in library school! 😅#oops

I feel like we should make a movie trilogy that uses Farenheit 451 and Library Wars as a basis.

I wish I had your courage. The new wave of library censorship was one of the things that convinced me not to do a library science degree. That fight is terribly important, but I don’t have the energy to charge into it.

I was lukewarm on Bradbury as a high schooler, but on the recommendation of my ex a few years ago, I picked some of his stuff again, and all of it it absolutely blew my mind as an adult. Dandelion Wine is a must-read for anybody who grew up in rural America like I did.

I recall being very confused by Ray Bradbury's books as an adolescent. I re-read The Martian Chronicles recently and was blown away.

As I realized too late, and have this imparted to my children: these Classics you are made to read in school were never intended for an adolescent audience. And even if they were, they were certainly not written with a 21st century middle school literature class in mind.
