Stoke the fire to build up pressure then center the johnson bar, open the throttle slowly, then slowly move the johnson bar out of center position bit by bit until you're moving :>

That's what I meant when I said I have a basic understanding. This engine has a dynamic, a blower, injectors, and such as well. It was the blower that was causing us to stay still.
