Being negative toward an artist for their success, whether it be an auction blasting off, their account growing fast/large, becoming part of a big project, etc. is only telling other artists that they shouldn't shoot for the best. Don't put that fear in them. Be happy for others!

as an aspiring artist who's struggling, seeing someone who's just... insanely incredible is indeed very disheartening. I would recommend taking that feeling and even if it's out of pure spite, and you're not being self-detrimental, funnel it into your study and work, NOT into self-detriment / harm
