There is nothing inherently wrong with monocropping. In fact, it is preferable in most cases as crops have specific demands, making fertilizer applications/trellising/harvesting more feasible. Interplanting and sister crops work fine in small-scale systems but don't scale well.
I generally monocrop with few exceptions, although I also use cover crops, which could be considered intercropping.
