This failure belongs not only to the Russian great nation colonial chauvinists, but also to Marx, Lenin, and Stalin. While they wrote principled words about national liberation, they still held overly-economistic ideas due to their european sensibilities/epistemic influences(Adam Smith, Hobson, etc)
