For real, if it is a childhood innocence thing, then why make them scary looking? Wouldn't the better move to leave them goofy lookin, and let the dichotomy be the scary thing?

i think what annoys me is that there's a genuinely cool idea there lurking under the surface but it almost always just ends up being "ooh clown but with SCARY makeup"....
