The name Clefairy seems to be a combination of Clef, as in the musical symbol at the beginning of a staff, and fairy which is a direct reference to its lore and eventually its typing. It's a simple name that spells out what Clefairy is visually.

A shiny clefairy's color palette changes from a light, peachy pink to a slightly paler pink. A major change is the brown tips of the ears becoming a bright green instead. Its fang, feet, and claws are still a white shade. There doesn't seem to be any particular reference or theme for the recolor.

Because of their links to the moon, their vaguely star-shaped bodies, tiny wings, and their magical, mysterious powers and actions, Clefairy is likely modeled after fairies and extraterrestrials. Their ability to float from the moon's energy is likely a reference to both.

Clefairy rest best after a long night of playing under the moonbeams. It's hard to find them in the wild, but its even harder to find them snoozing. It's easier to spot them after a full moon and it is said those who see it using metronome while sleeping (an unusual sight) will find happiness.

They say that the areas where Clefairy gather together become enveloped in a magnetic field that is abnormal. The ability Magic Guard used to be exclusive to their line until Gen V and could be a reference to their overall mysteriously magical nature.

Since Clefairy are quite hard to come by, they say that witnessing a ring of them dancing under a moonlit night is a sign of good things to come for those who see it. Because of their popularity with men and women and their penchant for bringing fortune, Clefairy owners should be careful of thieves.

It has strong ties to the moon and can float in the air by accessing the moonlight stored in its wings. When it's full in the sky, many of them come out and play under its light. As the dawn breaks, they all cuddle together in their mountain retreats after a full night of revelry.

Its shiny eyes, fanged grin, and overall shape have charmed people. Despite its large fanbase, they're quite uncommon and can only be found in certain places. They're often in high demand because of their playfulness and cuteness.
