Managers love doing weird shit with their closers in the postseason. Terry Francona used Andrew Miller in all those different situations back in 2016 and now it seems like every manager feels compelled to be unconventional. Carlos Mendoza has done this with Edwin Diaz, to very mixed results.

I don't disagree, but Francona's use of Miller in particular always seemed to focus on putting him in against the hardest part of the lineup, regardless of what inning that was. Vogt feels more along the lines of putting in Clase the second another reliever sneezes.
