In the US, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission has issued guidelines for the trading of derivatives of carbon credits. CFTC will not regulate the carbon credits themselves. Just the derivatives. The guidelines are not legally binding. reddmonitor.substack.com/p/how-the-co...

I got a lot of shade for talking about fraud in the voluntary carbon markets over the last few years, as though I was unfairly conflating my criticisms with actual violations of law. Anyway here's the DOJ filing criminal charges against Ken Newcombe for wire, commodities, and securities fraud.
